Allllrighty. So, here are some options for my new logo. I like the third one down from the left side as well as the last one from the right. BUT of course, I would love a good critique or opinion.
Yes, they are very small, I wanted to see how they would read that way. The second image is to see the detail.
Let me know what you think~
I feel like these are off to a strong start, but I think maybe you should play with some different fonts. These all feel to me like they're almost there. The bat makes things tricky with so many tangents to watch out for. The second down in the left column is the only one not creating tangents/stress there the the colored shape. Have you thought about putting the text inside the bat? I guess the fear with that would be it being too much like the batman logo though. x_x
ReplyDeleteYea, it was really hard to play around with the shape of the bat. Guh, tangents - but a few on there do not bother me too much. I figured it just mattered where I would place the logo on whatever material and create enough negative space to give it some breathing room and relax it. What is it missing? Can you pinpoint that?
ReplyDeleteYea, I did think about putting text inside of him...but I didn't think that would be any more stable and I wanted to keep the body and the wings the size they are now.
Oh man, that reminds me...a friend showed me this today:

Then at first glace I would immediately eliminate 7 and 2.
After studying them for a while I think that at that small size 2 is ok but 1 4 & 7 don't read very well. 5 & 6 seem to be pretty strong. and I think 3 & 4 could be better if you had a little more red on the right of the square so that the A is better contained and dosnt look cutt off.
Some things I would play with:
Putting type on the left side of the bat, it seems so far you have only had it around the right wing or directly above or below the bat. I cant tell if his left wing being out in space is pulling me in or distracting me away.
Try putting type on the bat. I believe the word illustration could fit on him nicely.
The design I would try is: Take the red circle and have the bat cradle it in his claws like in 1, put BLA in the dot like in 1 & 2 making sure it has enough negative space within the circle. Then take 'illustration' and arrange it across the bat (in white would probably look fine though red or another color might look better). Finally if you have time or want more detail I would take a full moon photo, bring it into photoshop, cut out the moon, make it the same size as your red dot, then make it partially transparent and lay it over your dot. So then (if it works) it'll look like your bat is holding a blood-red moon! which I think would be pretty cool.
Also you could stick it on anything (except black-cause the bat would disappear) and it would be readable.
PS: the second image looks good, but I know you can do better. ^_^
I'm not as art-savvy as prolly most of your friends, but just based on a basic first impression, the second one of the left side is my favorite. After staring at all of them for a few minutes, it's the one that my eye keeps lingering on.
