Secrets of the past months...

Hello, it has been quite a while, yes?

I have been using my other blog, http://blaillustration.tumblr.com/ a lot more often. So here is a summary

It has been pretty hectic, but in a good way. I have felt more lively from my art since I have gotten out of school. Currently I am working on many projects (like always). Some of these are tarot cards, more burlesque, etc...
My official website will also be launching in February! That is exciting.

Carnival of 5 Fires + Sketches + Life

Been working on many projects for clients recently...Here is one of the finished works, The Carnival of 5 Fires Logo. The Carnival of 5 Fires is a week long celebration full of awesome: Burlesque shows, vaudeville performers, art shows of the darker variety, and of course the outdoor fire magicians.
My client wanted me to make it look more posteresque as well so they could use it as such. I had a blast on it and looking forward to the events listed for this carnival of craziness. If you live in Richmond, VA I suggest you check this. Carnival of 5 Fires
And while at the kick off this event, I decided to take advantage of it artistically:

This last one I needed to warm up, and since I despise environments, I concluded I needed to do them more:

I still have many other posters to complete, hopefully in the next few days. I will finally finish those burlesque drawings for the Tshirts I am working on once these posters pass. Also planning on experimenting more with woodblock prints, I rather love the quality they produce. It has been nonstop art, but I am happy with that. I just wish it was my full time job. Gonna keep grinding away at my portfolio :3

Not dead yet...

Geeze Louise has it been busy. Not only am I working almost 40 hours a week, trying to get my portfolio rocking and kicked into gear, whilst looking for a graphic design job/internship.

The past couple of days I have come up with/picked up many projects to add to the list. Also just finished a photography set with a model and working on another for a friends products. Currently:

  • Vintage/Steampunk Logo
  • 2 T-shirt designs for the RVA Burlesque community
  • Halloween invitation
  • Work's Wine List Design
  • Possible work for a haunted trail (waiting to hear back again)
  • Reeses advertisement I have worked out
  • Several illustrations I need to figure out.

It would be nice to have a few more companies on my resume, so I have been doing research and buying magazines. I really need to apply, however I feel like I need to get more portfolio into gear before and I am so close to having something gripping. Just need to do more illustrations and add more variation.

Oh, did I mention it is near Halloween <3. It's going to be Halloween everything from now on, especially since now I have time to celebrate it. Stoked.

Update...

I now have my portfolio on one site until I make my website. Check it: http://blaillustration.carbonmade.com/

Just came back from Otakon this weekend all fired up to bring you new pieces. I spent a lot of time in the artists alley, so I was able to take a lot of notes for the future. I will probably be doing Katsucon at the artists alley, but we shall see how funds are.

Speaking of, I am currently accepting commissions! Email me for questions: blaillustration@gmail.com

Look forward to seeing more stuff very soon.

Got around to coloring it, enjoy!

Dr.Sketchys: Indy Go-Go

For this Dr.Sketchys session we had the wonderful burlesque/pinup model, Indy Go-Go.

I had a lot of fun with this session and doing the figures and animal practice a day before really helped out. Like stretching before the game.
