-BLIMP- update :D

Soooooo...it's been a while since this has been updated. I feel bad, but life has been quite hectic. Finals killed me, but I passed.

Here are a few projects from two of my studio classes: Color Theory and Type & Image.

TYPE & IMAGE:

For this project we picked out a poem that we liked and illustrated it.

Here we were given a letter and had to come up with 5 different things. This project had a lot of changes to it, but I am really glad with how it came together at the end. I need to learn how to simplify things.

This was the first project. We had to pick an action word then illustrate it three ways - one more image dominant, type dominant and equally dominant.

I had two other projects that incorporated a menu design and a magazine layout, but I still am not comfortable with either of them yet...maybe later I will post them, ha.

COLOR THEORY:

I want to incorporate this one into my portfolio, but it still has a lot of fixing up to do and a ran out of time. This is a color wheel done art nouveau style~ This is my first time trying one of my absolutely favorite styles out and I am pretty proud of it, although it needs more. It feels like it lacks quite a bit - but like the masters of this style, I am not putting anything in there unless it has a purpose - so I have more thinking to do.

I am pretty happy with this project too. We had to take one "silhouetted" drawing with 3-5 figures and do it three times so that the relationship between the figures changes just by using color. Instead of doing that, I wanted to change the mood. I am sure you can guess what I did. :D

And yes, Cownose Stingrays are the best. Ever. SRSLY. I want them to fly.

And last but not least, we have the light studies. From left to right: Blacklight, Candlelight, Colored Light. The pictures are absolute crap since the lighting is not the best, but you get the gist. I will take better ones later - probably not. I am still unsure if I want to go back into these or just leave them and work on other things in Acrylic. I had the hardest time. Never again will I paint acrylic on canvas, fo sho. It has a tooth that does not give much detail to my lines.

For my art I need to experiment more - try so much more. I definitely need to work on designing many more things to feel comfortable with them as well as kick up some typography. This winter break I will learn FONT FAMILIES BY HEART. Experiment constantly. I might be too stuck in my ways, but I need to make things more interesting. HUZZAH!!! :D
